Always Believe – A Regional Storytelling Event for Children
Performed EVERY September 11th
Next performance will be Saturday, September 11, 2010
OVERVIEW
ALWAYS BELIEVE is a story about COMMUNITY SPIRIT written for children. Every adult will recognize the parallels of this mythical story to the events of September 11, 2001, while the children are gently reminded how important community spirit is to every kingdom. The symbolism rather than direct recollection of events allows the story to be appropriate for all ages. This story recalls the events of September 11th “in an indirect but appropriate way” writes the Virginia Pilot BEACON Correspondent Nora Firestone.
Always Believe Inc., is an Educational Non Profit Organization, in Virginia Beach, VA , devoted to teaching and inspiring children to BELIEVE in themselves, to BELIEVE in their dreams and to BELIEVE in their community. Our production occurs in an environment rich in culture where learning becomes a delightful adventure. This Storytelling Event is low priced ($10.00), open to the public and is produced with 100% volunteer efforts, representing the spirit of September 11th and will be held on Saturday afternoon (9/11/2010) in Chesapeake, Virginia. We will ALWAYS REMEMBER THE UNICORNS and will repeat this performance annually.
ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE
The entire audience experiences the Art of Performance as over 200 children and adults become the cast. 100% audience participation is expected as each of our guests receives a gift bag with props which will be used on cue during the performance. In a time when ARTS have suffered many cutbacks and in some cases have been discontinued, we aim to promote a broad-based opportunity for every child to participate. By offering free admission, we are inviting children of every socio-economic group as well as special needs children that ordinarily do not have the opportunity to participate in such artistic ventures.
The story, Always Believe and a coloring page is available free online here(see Illustrated Story)and at CrystalCloud.com. The author encourages making copies for children and teachers.
GOOD DEEDS
Our mission is to educate children with values-such as courage, community, kindness, and patriotism – as were so widely exhibited in the aftermath of the tragedy on September 11th. A GOOD DEED which is requested for every ticket purchased. Each family member performs his/her own good deed.
IMAGINE…….an auditorium where the guests have accumulated a multitude of good deeds before the performance even begins. The children immediately learn how the whole community (represented by the whole auditorium) can accomplish more than any single individual. The sum of all their actions can be surpassed by none.
